simple pleasures

I spent a few days in NC last week to visit the family.

Highlights of home visits:
Morning coffee on the patio with mom while solving the world's problems and getting filled with encouragement only mom can give. Bonus: Neighbor Sara stops by.

Getting a dose of Ashley's tough summer life -- days at the pool lounging on rafts and learning all the Farmviille gossip through Ash and her friends;  doing underwater tea parties with Kylie followed by who can do the best underwater handstand; doing my first dive off a diving board in who knows how long; watching my favorite little ones (who aren't so little anymore) laugh with their friends and enjoy being a kid on summer break

Spending the night at Ashley's and having the kids fight over who gets to sleep with Aunt Mandy. We all do!

Being pestered by Brayden long enough and finally giving in to play ball with him in the yard. We played 3 against 1 and made up our own rules along the way but Brayden still won!

Peeling apples with Ash and Christine to make apple butter while dad is in the den watching baseball. There are few simple pleasures in life I love more than a football or baseball game on on a Sunday afternoon.

Going over to grandma's for lunch on a weekday and she prepares a meal you'd think it was Thanksgiving.

Visiting with friends and feeling like a day hasn't passed since we all lived here in high school.
