Celebrating

We got big surprise last week - Shane has a new job!  He had actually been talking to a couple places casually the last week or so.  Then it just happened!  It's all God and a huge blessing.  He and I had talked about October being a good time for him to transition since he'd have been at Co for a year.  Never dreamed it would happen so easily to such a great shop.   Just leave it to the Lord!

His new agency is called Taxi.  It's a short subway ride away, just down in Soho.  Even more fun, his writing partner and best friend Scags was hired, too.  They've wanted to work at an agency together since they both graduated from the Brandcenter 2 years ago.  It's all really exciting.

On top of that big change, my parents had already planned a visit to the city for the weekend.  So I flew in from LA and we got to celebrate together.  We had some good food, walked a bunch, and went to see several shows.  Saturday night was How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway, starring the former Harry Potter.  It was great.  That wizard can sing AND dance!

On Sunday we got to hear Tim Keller preach at his church, Redeemer Presbyterian.  I love his sermons.  He asks you to really think about what you believe and if your actions follow through on those beliefs.  Then we saw Moneyball and went to an off Broadway play in a series called Freud's Last Session.  This session was as if Freud and C.S. Lewis had a conversation, mostly on the existence of God.  I enjoyed it.  I've read a few of Lewis' books and could tell the parts they pulled out for the play.  I thought it was a pretty fair portrayal, although I wish they'd given him more confidence.  The actor playing Freud was so good I actually winced at his pretend pain.

Now I'm back in LA.  Have to keep reminding myself I actually live in NYC!  Since Shane has the week off between jobs, he flew to LA today.  Now we get to celebrate our 5 year anniversary together on the west coast.  It's been a pretty great week.
