Eating Dirt

I'm one of those wannabe vegetarians. It all sounds good....eating from the earth and all....but there's no pretending the smell of a burger on the grill is enough to have me temporarily forget I don't eat animals.

As we eat our way through New York, Meredith and I have a list of vegan/vegetarian restaurants we must go to. Today's stop....Dirt Candy! We had to make reservations for this place two weeks in advance! The concept is when you're eating vegetables, you're eating little more than dirt that's been transformed by plenty of rain and sunshine into something that's full of flavor.  Hence, dirt candy. After eating here, bring on the dirt!

We started with the jalapeno hush puppies with maple butter on the side. Or should I say maple butter with jalapeno hush puppies on the side. For these two southern girls, we're off to a good start. Main course was next, simply called Cauliflower. And Corn. We lucked up that they mixed up our order so we could also try the Zucchini.

I'm a believer. God made dirt. And it's good.
