Family Visit!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending time with a few of my favorite people in the whole world. My sister, her husband, Brayden, Kylie and one of Brayden's buddies came up for Brayden's 11th birthday (11!). I still can't believe he's 11. I feel like it was yesterday his sweet, sensitive self was born. He truly was, and still is, so sweet and sensitive. He has the biggest heart of any kid I've known. As a baby, he had the cutest quivering lip when he cried and just sternly telling him 'no' would bring out the quivering. I would fall more and more in love with this kid through the years as time and again he would show just how loving he is. It's not as evident when he's pretending to hang Kylie's baby dolls but no child is perfect. He'll make a woman very happy one day, as long as that woman likes to throw the baseball.

The cutest munchkins ever

Anyway, for his birthday, Brayden wanted to go to a NY Yankees game so he brought one of his buddies, Bradley, and they came up for a long weekend. Bradley had never been to NY so we showed him around town a little....Central Park, Times Square, Statue of Liberty. Brayden and Kylie were excellent tour guides.

The less than stellar part of the weekend was their game on Friday night got rained out! The boys were all decked out in their Yankees gear, went up to the field a couple of hours before the start of the game for batting practice, and the game was called due to rain! So, typically that would be ok but this just happen to be the game that Jeter was two hits away from making history with 3,000 hits! And because Jeter was on this quest there were no tickets for the next game that they could exchange their tickets for. And wouldn't you know it, Jeter hit 3,000 at his very next game. If you think about it too much it'll just make you mad, so I'll move on, but there's no controlling the weather. And the good news is they're coming back in September for the make up game.

While the boys went to the game, the girls had dinner reservations at American Girl. And not only did we have dinner, but Julie (Kylie's doll), got her hair done at the American Girl salon. It's a tough life.

It was sad seeing the family leave. I wish I could spend every day with them. But I'm so thankful for our short trip and especially thankful to have them in New York again in September!
