Where to Find a Tourist - on an NYC rooftop, at a museum, in a carriage being pulled by a man on a bike

Check. Check. And check.

When trying to decide how to spend our next weekend, we were looking at two options....1) go to Southampton for the day (we had a great coupon to take the Hampton Luxury Liner - ps. we're addicted to deal site coupons) or with rain in the forecast, head inside to a museum. We decided on the latter.

We met up at the Metropolitan Museum on a Saturday afternoon. For me, it felt like one of those things you just have to do once in your life. You check that box and move on. For Meredith, an art history lover, I realized it's one of those boxes she'd be happy checking every month.

Our plan was to walk through the museum and then head to the rooftop for some wine. With the crowds and my not-so-deep love of historic images of the Greek bronze age, we made a beeline for the roof.

2.5 glasses of Prosecco later (yes, we shared one glass....it was $11 a glass!), we're loving this rooftop. It was a beautiful day, not too hot, the rain held off, and the view....wow. The Met Museum sits right at Central Park which is one place I've fallen in love with. We had a beautiful view of the skyline and the Park. Perhaps the Prosecco helped, but it was also one of those days where I think we both needed to talk and have a good friend listen.

After drinking all of our money, we finally headed down to the museum where Meredith convinced me to do a walking tour of Rooms With A View - The Open Window in the 19th Century. I know what you're thinking, sounds thrilling. To Meredith it did. To me, I can do this! Just push through! We (I) survived the tour, walked around a little more, then headed out.

By this point, we're starving. We pulled out our phones to divide and conquer in finding a coupon for half off dinner. We found half off at an Indian restaurant about 15 blocks away. We decided to continue the tourist theme and took one of those buggies pulled by a man on a bike. I must say, if you've never done it, it's worth it. Though my pocket book won't let me check that box too many times.
